Chris Jenkins

Police Chief Chris Jenkins is a Culpeper native, who worked his way through the ranks until being named police chief in June 2010.

In 1977, at the age of 18, he began his law enforcement career as a dispatcher with the Culpeper Police Department. In 1979, he became a certified police officer through hard work, training, experience and continuous growth, Chief Jenkins earned promotions during his career along with increased supervisory responsibilities. He has served in all facets of the department as attaining the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant and captain.

Chief Jenkins, a 1977 graduate of Culpeper County High School, is a member of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police.  He is a graduate of the University of Richmond Professional Leadership School and Virginia Tech Leadership in Changing Times.  He is also graduated from the 218 Session of the FBI National Academy in 2004.

Prior to his appointment as police chief, he served as the commander of the Operations Division, which is responsible for the supervision Patrol, Special Operations, K-9 unit, and Reserves Officers. He also assisted in planning the department’s budget, conducting public relations activities and represented the department at various functions.

Chief Jenkins also served as interim police chief three times, once in 2001, again in 2007 and finally before his appointment as chief in 2010.

He is married to Pam and has five children, three sons, Mark, Jordan, Austin, and two daughters, Morgan, and Kristen. The couple resides in the Town of Culpeper.
